QUE PASA ACÁ!!?

Pierce is doing well in his new area of Iquique.  It was a typical week of working hard, learning patience, teaching people about the Gospel and dealing with crazies.

Here are a few excerpts from today's email:

"Only one thing to say..... ¿¡¡¡ QUE PASA ACÁ!!?"

"Well Iquique is like the weirdest place I've ever been by far here.  I think it’s mostly because I'm in Centro where you can see .....cualquier cosa......(forgot what that is in English) It’s fun and there’s soooo many people everywhere.  It stinks because almost none live here.  The ones that do, most of them work ridiculous hours, because they’re all foreign. Not many Chileans here.  Mostly Colombians.  They are a pretty funny crowd, very stereotypical. (Not trying to offend)  A group started to ask me what Wiz Khalifa was saying in this one song. They were all pretty cool, but mostly lost teens, sad but it happens."

"There are some crazies here!  We were walking to go talk to someone to arrange a time to meet with him, but he was at his work.  Then this lady (who you just know is beyond repair because of drugs and stuff…, it was really sad) started screaming and following us.  It was normal, happened before in other places but she wouldn't stop.  She was changing moods really fast from angry to crazy and stuff.  So we got to the place and she followed us in and then started to get mad at me for no reason.   I was trying to calm her down and then she started to smack me with this bag of food or something, don’t really know what it was, but that happened. Then the people who worked there tried to get her out, but she wouldn't leave, so we said we would go, so it wouldn't cause such a scene.  Then this lady spat on her! Oh my....I didn't want this to happen!  Anyway,  she finally left !  So that happened! Goodness! I felt bad but whatever.  But it’s all good! "

"READ the scriptures daily as a family!  Tell Matthew, Jackson and Aiden to practice piano, they won’t regret it on their missions!"

" I met a truly repentant person this past week. That was a really good thing to see. He is ready to be baptized but doesn't have a home..... He’s been moving around with friends and family so we have to wait until he stays put."

"So, Elder R and I....,it’s hard, all the kid wants to do is sleep!!  And he has only been out 3 months!!   I honestly don’t know how this is going to go, but here’s an analogy:
Patience is like taffy.  (Blimey what a start!)
It starts off as a ball but then the Maker comes over and starts to smash it...
(still going well though....)
Then the maker throws it on a pole and begins to stretch it AND STRETCH IT until it gets thin as it possibly can without tearing.
And then "oops" the Maker pulled it a little too far and it tore, but he quickly throws it back to regain its shape.
So pretty much my patience is being tried again, but it’s ok.   I haven’t broken yet, but it’s hard.   I can’t do what my comp wants to do because that’s breaking the rules, and I also can’t do what I want if he won’t!... goodness Tyler Woods how have you been doing it this long..? But more patience. But all is good. For now.  I think he’ll come around eventually.https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif"

"Hey mom, I was wondering if you could send me a picture of scenic AZ desert and pictures of all you guys, like individual.  I’m curious, but it looks like Matt, Jack and Aiden have changed a lot!?"
